Mr. Ivey took on the challenges of the AIA in 2011, and is looking toward the 21st century while adapting the necessary changes to accommodate the future. Ivey is positioning the AIA to be more responsive to the changing needs of building design and construction and to better work with related disciplines. One of the top goals for Ivy and the AIA is to bring awareness to the profession in general and to demonstrate the relevance of all architects.
Some of the changes seen in the industry include dealing with sustainability, climate change and the impact of design on public health. Architects will take on significant roles with these issues and the way they impact the industry. Robert Ivy is working actively to improve the AIA governance in order to improve decision making and putting together a digital first technology infrastructure and launch a public awareness campaign.
Mr. Ivy is the recipient of several awards including an honor from the Alpha Rho Chi for his effectiveness in communicating the value of design in architecture. In 1957 a group of 13 architects from New York came together to form a trade-based membership group which would guarantee the quality of the work completed in 19th-century New York. The group could never have imagined the importance their association would become over the course of the next 150 plus years; the membership group which would become the Robert Ivy led American Institute of Architects was original to be called the New York Institute of Architects until architects from across the U.S. stepped in and wished to join the subscription group.
Although the first attempts at building a subscription-based group of architects saw the original mission of the group be to build a better and more complete construction industry this goal soon expanded to include the need to assist in developing nationwide building regulations. The original 13 architects who formed the American Institute of Architects have now expanded to include 200 full-time members of staff at the Washington D.C. headquarters under the leadership of EVP and CEO, Robert Ivy.
The evolution of the American Institute of Architects has continued apace under the leadership of Robert Ivy as he believes the membership group should use its influence to be more proactive in building stronger relationships with those creating construction regulations across the nation and the world. In the view of Robert Ivy, the people of the world require groups such as the American Institute of Architects to build their awareness of the major construction and building issues needing attention in the 21st-century; an award-winning public awareness campaign was created by Robert Ivy and his team to build awareness of the issues of climate change which will form the major architectural challenge of the next few decades.
Major public awareness campaigns do form much of the work completed by the American Institute of Architects but the day-to-day operation of the construction industry is the cornerstone of the work being completed by the group. One of the most important pieces of business for the American Institute of Architects is to maintain model contracts for construction purposes to ensure all parties in the industry are protected during business dealings s projects are completed.
The American Institute of Architects is an organization with a strong focus on architecture. This is an organization that is there for those who are involved in the world of architecture, and it is an organization that does much work to better the world in that regard. The American Institute of Architects was founded in 1857 by a group of individuals who had a similar interest in architecture. This group of architects wanted to help perfect their members, and that is why they started the group. They wanted to help architects be perfect in the work that they completed, and the group that they formed is still going strong.
There are many honors and awards that are given out by the American Institute of Architects, and these honors and awards do much to change the lives of those who receive them. Those who are recognized by this group feel good about the work that they are doing and all that they are accomplishing, and they can use the recognition that they have received to help them in getting work. The American Institute of Architects gives out the Associate’s Award, the Young Architects Award, the Edward C. Kemper Award, and much more. They have a variety of honors and awards that they share with those who are doing well in the world of architecture.
The American Institute of Architects has members in a variety of levels. Those who join up with the organization will be labeled as Architect Members, Associate Members, International Associate Members, Emeritus Members, or Allied Members. Those who are a part of the organization have the chance to learn through it and to grow in all that they are. The American Institute of Architects does much to influence the government and various policies by standing up for architects everywhere. This organization is made up of a group of people who have passions that are similar to one another. This group of people has come together with the goal of helping architecture in America be all that it is meant to be. The American Institute of Architects does much work.https://washington.org/meetings/find-dc-listings/american-institute-architects
Richard Mishaan Design is noted for blending disparate styles and patterns to create something regarded as alive and visually appealing. Richard Mishaan was born in Cartagena, Columbia; he spent part of his life in Italy and has lived in New York since 1978. He credits his early life to be a major influence to his taste in design. According to an article in “Architecture Digest” Mishaan is the author of two books that feature samples of his proofs from his family home, a spacious Manhattan apartment overlooking Central Park; a retreat house in Cartagena, Columbia; and a dwelling on Long Island, New York. Richard Mishaan is also credited to have re-designed the suites at the St. Regis hotel in New York in 2010.
Mishaan says of his first book, “Modern Luxury” 2009, the tone in this volume is to show the range in options for high-end design. This may be reflected in a unit containing both paintings and sculpted pieces, contrast in furniture or composition of materials used for flooring and ceiling for example. Moreover, color schemes reflect variation. Examples in his published work demonstrate use of bright blues, stripes and plad.
Mishaan lives with his wife, Marcia Rolfe Mishaan who too is a professional artist and their young adult children. Their family space is a Manhattan apartment near Central Park where they have lived for under 20 years. Their home contains eclectic furniture and museum-quality art pieces. One may note art pieces by Manolo Valdes, Donald Baechler, 19th-century Italian painter Federico Andreotti and sculpted works by other notables placed throughout the dwelling.
Noted too, the master bedroom contains a wealth of pieces that reflect variety and eclectic style. Thus, the personal surroundings and public arenas where Richard Mishaan has been commissioned to display his architect design attest to his canny ability to blend eras, styles, colors and materials. He says, “I just like discovering things, and that’s what I do.”
